More about the Spanish present tense and learn how to describe things that we usually do using the regular Spanish verbs we learned in previous lessons. In this Spanish lesson we will see how to conjugate regular Spanish verbs for: “we”/”nosotros”, “you”/”vosotros” (plural), “you”/”ustedes” (plural/formal) and “they”/”ellos”. We need to remember which endings we put on the verb according to the different person. Regular Spanish verbs which finish in “-er” in their infinitive/base form such as “comer” (“to eat”), for example, change their endings to “-mos” with “nosotros” (we). So if you want to say “We eat” you must say “nosotros comemos” or simply “comemos” if you prefer. The key is to remember each of the different verb conjugations according to whether the verb ends in “-ar”, “-er” or “-ir”. The first time most students hear this they feel a little overwhelmed with all of the different combinations, but don’t get disheartened as it really isn’t as difficult as it first appears. With patience and practice you will find yourself remembering the endings much quicker than you would have expected. As always, practice makes perfect, you won’t remember them unless you practice!
