Amaral is a Latin Pop duo group from Zaragoza consisting of vocalist Eva Amaral and guitarist Juan Aguirre. Eva and Juan write the songs together and have been one of the most consistently successful pop acts in Spain since their first album “Amaral” in 1998. The group achieved its biggest success in 2002 with the release of “Estrella de mar” which sold over two million copies and included the number one singles “Salir corriendo”, “Toda la noche en la calle”, “Te necesito” and “Sin ti no soy nada”.
“Estrella de mar” became the national best-selling album in Spain in 2002 and won a huge array of awards, among them a European MTV Award for Best Spanish Artist. Amaral built on their success, touring extensively, not only in Spain but also in Mexico, Argentina and Chile. In 2003 Eva Amaral also starred in a short film by Andreu Castro called “Flores para Maika”, which portrays a woman who dies at the hands of her partner. The song “Salir corriendo” was part of the soundtrack of the film and was later released as the sixth single from “Estrella de mar”.
In November 2004, Eva and Juan went to Eden Studies in London to record their fourth album “Pájaros en la cabeza” with producer Cameron Jenkins. The album contained the hugely popular single “El universo sobre mí” which could be heard everywhere you went in Spain in 2005. Other singles included: “Días de verano”, “Marta, Sebas, Guille y los demás”, “Resurrección” and “Revolución”. Amaral went on tour to promote the album the same year and during the tour stopped off in Barcelona to record and edit a concert DVD, which would be released on November 28 2005 under the name “El comienzo del big bang”. “Pájaros en la cabeza” sold over one million copies and was the best selling album in Spain in 2005.
