    Hi,
I have a friend in Peru. And I live in USA and there are many Mexicans. Is south American spanish and mexican spanish and SPAIN spanish all the same? My ex-wife is from Brazil, and she says Portuguese is a little different in Portugal. The same for Spanish?

  8. Hola Michael,
The Spanish I teach here on my blog is "Castellano" Spanish as spoken in Spain. However the Latin American Spanish as spoken in South America and Mexico is almost identical.
There are some differences in pronunciation and vocabulary, but it is basically the same language. It is not difficult to understand the other language once you know one. The differences are similar to those between American and British English. Nothing to worry about basically!
I wish you all the very best with your studies.
    Saludos,
    Laura
