In this Beginner Spanish lesson we will learn the Spanish numbers 1-100 and how to state your age in Spanish. We will also see how to ask someone’s age with the question: “¿Cuantos años tienes?” Please repeat all of the Spanish numbers after me in the video to work on your pronunciation and then practice counting in Spanish yourself to see how much you remember. Once you can remember the Spanish numbers 1-20 and 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 you are away. The rest is relatively easy. This is the first in a series of three Spanish lessons looking at the numbers in Spanish. Later we will see the Spanish numbers 100-1000 and then how to construct the numbers in Spanish from 1000 onwards. Learning the larger numbers in Spanish, as with any foreign language, can seem a bit daunting at first, but you will be amazed at how quickly you improve with a bit of practice. The Spanish numbers follow consistent and logical rules and once you get your head around these rules it is relatively straightforward to put together larger numbers. All of a sudden you will be reeling off any number you wish with ease and will wonder what you were ever worried about! This is true with many aspects of learning Spanish: it is really not that difficult once you actually get stuck in and put in a little hard work.

Good job ; videos are very usefull !

As I was reviewing some earlier lessons, I realized that there is a minor mis-match between the text and the video in lesson 3:

I would suggest to change this line:
Tengo 30 años: I have 30 years (We do not say I am 30)

    for this:
Tengo 30 años: I have 30 years (In Spanish, we do not say "I am 30 years OLD")

    Hi!

    How would u say 157 ? Cien cincuenta y siete? What about 1000 and 1057 or 1557?

    Thank you!

I just started watching your videos again. Forgive me if you have already answered to that in the other videos but what it came to my mind is about the years. Let's say you want to say something happened in a certain year for example 1946. How would u say it? I remember in English you say it this way 19,46. Is it the same in Spanish?

    Thanks! :)

  7. Hola,
To say 157 you would say "ciento cincuenta y siete". 1000 is "mil". 1057 is "mil cincuenta y siete" and 1557 is "mil quinientos cincuenta y siete".
I recommend that you watch another of my videos on the Spanish numbers from 100-1000: Video 15.
    All my best,
    Laura

  8. Hola,
To say 1946 you would say "mil novecientos cuarenta y seis". We say the years in exactly the same way as all of the other numbers.
    I hope this helps.
    Saludos,
    Laura
